Under the 2014-2021 EEA Grants, the General Secretariat for Environment and Climate Action is the operator of the “Environment, Climate Change and Low Carbon Economy” Program. Within the scope of the sub-program “Decarbonizing Society”, it is intended to increase the resilience of cities to climate change, through concrete adaptation measures at the local level and foster low-carbon technological solutions that contribute to mitigating climate change.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation was created in 1956 by testament of Calouste Sarkis Gulbenkian, a philanthropist of Armenian origin who lived in Lisbon between 1942 and 1955. The Foundation is Portuguese, perpetual and has the fundamental purpose of improving people’s quality of life through art, charity, science and education, developing its activities from its headquarters in Lisbon and delegations in Paris and London, and also intervening, through support granted from Portugal, in the PALOP and East Timor, as well as in countries with Armenian Communities. The Foundation develops its activity through the attribution of support, the organization of events, the promotion of studies and other publications and the carrying out of its own activities or projects.

The Intermunicipal Community of Central Alentejo is an associative entity governed by public law that brings together the municipalities of Alandroal, Arraiolos, Borba, Estremoz, Évora, Montemor-o-Novo, Mora, Mourão, Portel, Redondo, Reguengos de Monsaraz, Vendas Novas , Viana do Alentejo and Vila Viçosa.

Among the various attributions aimed at pursuing the common interests of the municipalities, CIMAC’s mission is the sustainable management of resources and the pursuit of the harmonious and sustainable development of the territory, contributing to combating climate change and changing the development paradigm.
